CSE1L siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of the Chromosome Segregation 1 Like (CSE1L) gene, also known as human Cellular Apoptosis Susceptibility (hCAS). CSE1L is a nuclear export protein that is frequently overexpressed in various human malignancies, including pancreatic cancer, where it is associated with tumor progression, malignant transformation, and evasion of apoptosis. The siRNA functions through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, leading to the sequence-specific degradation of CSE1L mRNA and a subsequent reduction in CSE1L protein levels. Preclinical research, such as studies conducted at the Moffitt Cancer Center, has demonstrated that knockdown of CSE1L using siRNA in pancreatic cancer cell lines effectively reduces cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, and inhibits colony formation in soft agar, suggesting that CSE1L is a viable therapeutic target for cancer treatment.
