CSL monovalent taipan antivenom is an equine-derived F(ab')2 monospecific antivenom manufactured by CSL Limited. It is prepared from the plasma of horses hyperimmunized with the venom of the coastal taipan (*Oxyuranus scutellatus*) from Australia. Each vial contains a minimum of 12,000 units of neutralizing capacity against taipan venom. The antivenom is administered intravenously and is indicated for the treatment of systemic envenoming following bites by taipan snakes (*Oxyuranus* species), including the coastal taipan (*Oxyuranus scutellatus*), the Papuan taipan (*Oxyuranus scutellatus canni*), and the inland taipan (*Oxyuranus microlepidotus*). Its primary biological targets are the major toxic components of taipan venom, specifically presynaptic phospholipase A2 neurotoxins (such as taipoxin) that cause flaccid paralysis, and procoagulant toxins (such as oscutarin C) that induce venom-induced consumptive coagulopathy (VICC).
