Overview

CSMed® is a topical wound dressing developed by Chung Shan Medical University Hospital in Taiwan for the prevention and management of radiation dermatitis. It is specifically designed for patients with breast or head-and-neck cancer undergoing radiotherapy with doses of 50 Gy or higher. The dressing is formulated with various herbal extracts that provide protective and therapeutic effects on irradiated skin. Clinical trial data (NCT06001463) indicates that CSMed® effectively delays the onset of dermatitis, reduces the severity of skin reactions as measured by RTOG scores, and enhances the healing process compared to standard skin care protocols. It is classified as a medical device rather than a traditional pharmaceutical drug.
