Overview

CST-2032 is a proprietary, oral, brain-penetrant small molecule that acts as a beta-2 adrenoceptor (β2-adrenergic receptor) agonist. It is being developed by CuraSen Therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease. The drug works by activating norepinephrine receptors in cortical and limbic brain regions to compensate for the loss of this neurotransmitter, which occurs early in these diseases. To minimize peripheral side effects associated with β2-adrenoceptor agonists, CST-2032 is administered in combination with CST-107 (nadolol), a brain-sparing beta blocker[1][4][5]. Clinical studies have shown that this approach can improve cognition and mood in affected patients[1][4].
