CSX-5000

CSX-5000 is a monoclonal antibody being developed by Cessation Therapeutics for the treatment of acute cannabis overdose and cannabis-induced psychosis. Unlike traditional monoclonal antibodies that target proteins, CSX-5000 is designed to target small molecule drugs of abuse, specifically delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and synthetic cannabinoids. The mechanism of action involves sequestering these substances within the bloodstream, preventing them from crossing the blood-brain barrier and reaching the central nervous system to produce pharmacological effects. The drug is currently in the lead optimization and preclinical stages of development, aiming to provide a first-in-class treatment for cannabinoid-related medical emergencies.
