CT-1119 is an autologous, ex vivo gene-modified chimeric antigen receptor macrophage (CAR-M) cellular therapy developed to target mesothelin-positive solid tumors. The therapy involves engineering human macrophages to express a CAR specific for mesothelin, a tumor-associated antigen overexpressed in various solid tumors such as lung cancer, mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, and pancreatic cancer. In preclinical studies, CT-1119 demonstrated the ability to induce phagocytosis of mesothelin-expressing tumor cells, mediate robust tumor cell killing, and secrete pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNFα in response to antigen stimulation. These activities suggest that CT-1119 may promote both direct anti-tumor effects and systemic immune responses against solid tumors[1][2][4][5][6].
