Overview

CT-868 is a once-daily subcutaneous injectable, dual glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist developed as an adjunct to insulin for the treatment of type 1 diabetes in people with overweight or obesity. It is also being investigated for type 2 diabetes. CT-868 is a peptide-small molecule hybrid designed to be potent on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors with no β-arrestin recruitment, resulting in fully biased signaling that minimizes receptor internalization and desensitization. This mechanism aims to provide improved glycemic control and weight loss while optimizing tolerability at the GLP-1 receptor. The drug was originally developed by Carmot Therapeutics, which has since been acquired by Roche[1][3][5][6].
