Overview
CT-L02 is a liposomal formulation of the taxane chemotherapy agent docetaxel, currently under development by CureTeq. Utilizing a proprietary liposomal delivery technology originally developed by Cureport, CT-L02 is designed to improve the therapeutic index of docetaxel by enhancing its pharmacokinetic profile and increasing its accumulation within tumor tissues via the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. This encapsulation aims to mitigate common side effects associated with conventional docetaxel, such as severe hypersensitivity reactions and myelosuppression, by avoiding the need for certain surfactants and providing a more controlled release. The mechanism of action involves the stabilization of microtubules by binding to the beta-subunit of tubulin, which inhibits mitotic spindle assembly and leads to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptosis. CT-L02 is primarily being investigated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer.
