Overview

CT001 is a novel analgesic and sedative nasal spray developed primarily for the treatment of acute pain in children aged 1–17 years, especially during medical procedures. It is a fixed-dose combination of two well-known analgesics already approved for injection in adults and used intravenously in children, but formulated as a non-invasive nasal spray to provide rapid onset of action and avoid side effects such as prolonged sedation or respiratory depression. The product has been tested in multiple clinical trials with positive results regarding efficacy, safety, and patient acceptance[1][3][6]. In addition to its use as an analgesic for pediatric pain management (by Cessatech), another version of CT-001 refers to a next-generation recombinant activated Factor VIIa (rFVIIa) engineered for enhanced hemostatic activity and rapid clearance from circulation. This version is being developed by Coagulant Therapeutics for the management of acute bleeding including postpartum hemorrhage[5][7][8]. The molecule features specific amino acid substitutions (P10Q, K32E) and additional desialylated N-glycans to promote fast clearance via asialoglycoprotein receptors while maintaining or enhancing clotting activity compared to conventional rFVIIa[5][8].
