CT101A-19 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD19 antigen, a protein widely expressed on the surface of B-cell lineage cells. Developed by researchers at Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, this therapy involves the ex vivo genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR construct specific for CD19. Upon re-infusion, these engineered T cells recognize and eliminate CD19-positive malignant cells. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and various forms of B-cell lymphoma.
