Overview

CT601 is an investigational, allogeneic (off-the-shelf) chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being developed by Alpha Biopharma for the treatment of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL). The therapy is designed to target the CD7 antigen, a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant T-cells. To address the unique challenges of targeting T-cell malignancies, CT601 is genetically engineered to prevent 'fratricide' (the self-destruction of CAR-T cells) by knocking out the endogenous CD7 gene. Furthermore, it is engineered to minimize the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) by knocking out the T-cell receptor (TCR) complex, which allows the product to be manufactured from healthy donor cells and administered to patients without the need for HLA matching.
