CTC-96 is a small molecule metallo-organic compound known as a cobalt(III) Schiff base chelate. It has demonstrated potent antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties in both in vitro and in vivo studies. The drug acts primarily by inhibiting free radicals and blocking essential enzymes required for viral replication. Mechanistically, it functions as an inhibitor of membrane fusion events during the life cycle of enveloped viruses, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells. CTC-96 has shown efficacy against herpes simplex virus (HSV), adenovirus type 5 (Ad5), varicella-zoster virus (VZV), and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV). Its primary indications are infectious diseases affecting the eye—such as keratoconjunctivitis—and skin/musculoskeletal diseases[1][2][3][4][6][8].
