Overview

CTCE-0324 is a synthetic 14-amino acid peptide analog of the chemokine CXCL12, also known as stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1). Developed by Chemokine Therapeutics, it functions as a selective agonist of the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). By mimicking the natural ligand SDF-1, CTCE-0324 was designed to modulate the trafficking and mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood. Its primary clinical focus was the treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia and the enhancement of hematopoietic recovery following bone marrow transplantation. Unlike CXCR4 antagonists such as plerixafor, which release cells by blocking the SDF-1/CXCR4 interaction, CTCE-0324's agonistic activity was intended to stimulate immune responses and facilitate tissue repair. Although it reached Phase 2 clinical trials, development was discontinued following the financial restructuring and eventual dissolution of its developer.
