Overview

CTP-298 is an investigational deuterated analog of the HIV-1 protease inhibitor atazanavir, developed by CoNCERT Pharmaceuticals using its proprietary deuterium chemistry platform. By incorporating deuterium at specific metabolic sites, CTP-298 is designed to enhance pharmacokinetic properties, potentially reducing metabolic clearance and improving drug exposure compared to the non-deuterated parent compound. This modification was intended to potentially eliminate the requirement for co-administration with a pharmacokinetic booster like ritonavir. In Phase 1 clinical testing, CTP-298 was evaluated as an amorphous dispersion formulation to compare its steady-state pharmacokinetics and tolerability against atazanavir co-administered with ritonavir in healthy volunteers. It is intended for the treatment of HIV-1 infection.
