Overview

CTP0301-A is an investigational osmotic laxative formulation developed by Taejoon Pharmaceutical for bowel cleansing in patients undergoing colonoscopy. The primary active ingredient is polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350), a non-absorbable polymer that exerts an osmotic effect within the gastrointestinal tract. By drawing and retaining water in the colon, CTP0301-A increases stool volume and softens fecal matter, thereby promoting bowel movements and ensuring adequate visualization of the colonic mucosa during endoscopic procedures. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (e.g., NCT05870553) using a split-dose regimen to compare its efficacy and safety profile against other PEG-based bowel preparations, such as Cool prep.
