Overview

CTSS siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of Cathepsin S (CTSS), a lysosomal cysteine protease. In the context of head and neck cancer research, CTSS has been identified as a negative regulator of interleukin 7 (IL-7) secretion. By knocking down CTSS, the siRNA promotes the expression of the IL-7 receptor and subsequent IL-7 secretion, which enhances the proliferation and infiltration of activated CD8+ T cells within the tumor microenvironment. This approach aims to reverse the immune-suppressed state associated with high CTSS expression in cancers and is currently being explored in preclinical models.
