CTX-006 is a preclinical-stage RNA therapeutic being developed by Ceria Therapeutics for the treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI). The drug consists of a microRNA-146a (miRNA-146a) mimic conjugated to cerium oxide nanoparticles (nanoceria). Designed for intravenous administration, CTX-006 utilizes the nanoceria component as both a catalytic antioxidant and a delivery vehicle to target the kidneys. The miRNA-146a component suppresses the expression of Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1) and TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), which are key mediators in the TLR4/NF-kB inflammatory pathway. By inhibiting this pathway, CTX-006 aims to reduce the systemic and local inflammation and oxidative stress that drive the progression of AKI.
