CTX-007 is a preclinical-stage RNA therapeutic developed by Ceria Therapeutics for the treatment of sepsis. It consists of a microRNA-146a (miRNA-146a) mimic conjugated to cerium oxide nanoparticles (nanoceria). Administered intravenously, CTX-007 is designed to suppress the expression of Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1) and TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), which are critical signaling components of the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/NF-κB inflammatory pathway. By downregulating these targets, the drug aims to mitigate the systemic hyper-inflammatory response and oxidative stress associated with sepsis, potentially preventing the progression to organ failure. The cerium oxide nanoparticle component serves both as a delivery vehicle and as a catalytic antioxidant.
