Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CTY-5339-CB + CTY-5339-P is an investigational drug combination developed by Cetylite Industries for use in clinical trials. It consists of CTY-5339-CB, a topical anesthetic spray containing 14% benzocaine, and CTY-5339-P, a metered spray containing only the vehicle (placebo). This specific combination was utilized in Phase 2 double-blind, cross-over studies to assess the local anesthetic efficacy of benzocaine alone compared to the combination product CTY-5339 (benzocaine and tetracaine) while maintaining blinding. Benzocaine, the active component, is a small molecule local anesthetic that functions by reversibly blocking nerve conduction through the inhibition of voltage-gated sodium channels. It is intended for the treatment of procedural pain involving accessible mucous membranes.
