Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CU-00048 is a highly selective, best-in-class pan T-type calcium channel antagonist developed by Acurex Biosciences. It is a small molecule drug designed to block voltage-gated T-type calcium channels, which are the only low-voltage activated calcium channels and play a key role in regulating neuronal excitability and calcium oscillations. By inhibiting these channels, CU-00048 aims to modulate neural communication and excitability implicated in central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The drug has demonstrated excellent drug-like properties and is currently ready for IND-enabling studies. Its primary indications under investigation are epilepsy and essential tremor[1][2][3][4].
