Overview

CUD005 is an investigational cell therapy consisting of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) being developed by CureDose Biotechnology. It is primarily designed for the treatment of liver cirrhosis, a condition characterized by progressive fibrosis and impaired liver function. The therapy is administered via a peripheral intravenous injection and leverages the multi-potent properties of mesenchymal stem cells. These cells are thought to exert therapeutic effects through immunomodulation, the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines, and the release of trophic factors that promote hepatic tissue repair and inhibit the activation of hepatic stellate cells responsible for fibrosis. CUD005 is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with cirrhosis.
