Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cudafol is an investigational improved formulation of the intravenous general anesthetic propofol, being developed by Cuda Pharmaceuticals (also referenced as Cuda Anesthetics) in collaboration with Ligand Pharmaceuticals to enhance propofol delivery characteristics, likely leveraging Ligand’s Captisol cyclodextrin-based excipient technology to improve solubility, stability, and/or tolerability compared with conventional lipid emulsion propofol products. It is intended for use as a general anesthetic and sedative, with pharmacologic effects mediated by potentiation of inhibitory GABAergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system in line with standard propofol mechanisms.
