Overview

Cudrania tricuspidata leaf refers to the foliage of the Cudrania tricuspidata tree, a plant from the Moraceae family native to East Asia and used extensively in traditional Korean, Chinese, and Japanese medicine. The leaves contain multiple bioactive phytochemicals, especially flavonoids (such as quercetin and kaempferol) and xanthones. Extracts derived from C. tricuspidata leaf have demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, anti-obesity, and gastroprotective effects in various preclinical and some clinical studies. Mechanistically, the leaves exhibit their pharmacological effects primarily through inhibition of histamine H2 receptor-mediated gastric acid secretion, antioxidative pathways (notably Nrf2/HO-1 signaling), and cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibition (notably CYP1A2 and CYP2C8). The leaf extract has been evaluated for functional dyspepsia, digestive disorders, metabolic syndrome, and certain skin disorders associated with impaired tight junctions[1][3][4][5][6][7].
