Overview

CUG252 is an engineered interleukin-2 (IL-2) mutein designed to selectively activate and expand immune-suppressive regulatory T cells (Tregs), while reducing undesired IL-2 activity on other IL-2 receptor-expressing cells. This selectivity aims to provide immunosuppression for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The drug is being developed by Cugene, with AbbVie holding an exclusive worldwide license option. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for several autoimmune indications, including systemic lupus erythematosus, atopic dermatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. The modality is a long-acting fusion protein administered subcutaneously[1][3][4][5].
