Overview

Cultured Bone Marrow Cells (Dr. E. Badiavas) is an autologous cell therapy developed for the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers and venous stasis ulcers. The therapy involves harvesting bone marrow aspirate from the patient, which is then processed in a laboratory to expand specific regenerative cell populations, primarily mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), over a period of approximately 4 to 8 weeks. Once the cell cultures have matured and passed sterility checks, they are applied topically to the patient's wound bed. The mechanism of action involves the delivery of viable progenitor cells that secrete a complex array of pro-healing cytokines and growth factors. these factors promote angiogenesis, modulate the local inflammatory environment, and stimulate tissue regeneration, thereby overcoming the stalled healing process characteristic of chronic wounds.
