Cupressus arizonica pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Arizona cypress tree. It is used for allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) to treat respiratory allergies such as rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma caused by sensitization to cypress pollen. [2] The treatment involves administering gradually increasing doses of the extract to desensitize the immune system, thereby reducing the allergic response upon natural exposure. [11] Companies including ALK-Abelló, LETI Pharma, and Inmunotek are involved in the development, standardization, and clinical evaluation of Cupressus arizonica pollen extracts for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. [7, 8] Clinical studies have focused on its tolerability, efficacy, and the standardization of its major allergen, Cup a 1, to ensure product quality and potency. [2, 11] It can be administered via subcutaneous injection or sublingually. [6, 11]
