Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Curasept** is an Italian oral-health product range, principally comprising chlorhexidine digluconate-containing mouthwashes, toothpastes, gels, and topical sprays for chemical plaque control and management of gingival and periodontal conditions. The principal active, **chlorhexidine**, is a cationic small-molecule antiseptic that binds negatively charged bacterial cell-envelope surfaces, disrupts membrane integrity and biofilm-related bacterial growth, and has concentration-dependent bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity. Curasept ADS products incorporate the patented Anti-Discoloration System to reduce chlorhexidine-associated dental staining; individual formulations may also contain ingredients such as fluoride, sodium DNA, hyaluronic acid, PVP-VA copolymer, or other adjuncts. The range is used around periodontal, endodontic, extraction, orthodontic, and implant procedures and for plaque, gingivitis, periodontitis, peri-implantitis, and oral mucosal-care support.
