Curasore

Curasore is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical anesthetic product developed and marketed by the S.S.S. Company for the temporary relief of pain, burning, and irritation associated with cold sores (herpes labialis) and fever blisters. The active ingredient is pramoxine hydrochloride (1%), a local anesthetic that works by inhibiting the conduction of nerve impulses through the blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels. Formulated as a liquid with ethyl ether and ethyl alcohol, Curasore is intended for external use and is applied to the affected area up to three or four times daily using disposable cotton applicators. While it provides symptomatic relief from the discomfort of cold sores, it is not an antiviral medication and does not cure the underlying viral infection.
