Curcuma Longa gel is a topical botanical formulation derived from the rhizome of the *Curcuma longa* (turmeric) plant, primarily containing concentrated curcuminoids. It is being investigated for its potential to enhance both soft and hard tissue healing in fresh extraction sockets following tooth extraction. The active component, curcumin, is known for its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. It works by modulating various molecular targets, including the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), and enzymes like cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby reducing post-operative inflammation and promoting osteogenesis. This specific clinical application is being studied in a randomized, split-mouth clinical trial led by Rania Farouk Mohamed Abdulmaguid to compare its efficacy against Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and standard natural healing.
