Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Curcumin C3 Complex is a patented, standardized extract of curcuminoids derived from the rhizomes of *Curcuma longa* (turmeric). It contains a minimum of 95% curcuminoids, specifically curcumin (diferuloylmethane), demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin. This specific formulation was investigated by Dr. Nita Chainani-Wu at the University of California, San Francisco, for the treatment of oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic inflammatory autoimmune condition. The treatment aims to reduce mucosal inflammation and associated symptoms by modulating pro-inflammatory markers such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Clinical trials have evaluated doses ranging from 2000 mg/day to 6000 mg/day, with the higher dose showing efficacy in controlling OLP signs and symptoms.
