Curtisia dentata leaf extract

Curtisia dentata leaf extract is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of *Curtisia dentata* (commonly known as the assegai tree), a species native to Southern Africa. Traditionally, the stem bark of *Curtisia dentata* has been widely used in South African traditional medicine to treat various ailments, including diarrhea, stomach aches, and parasitic infections. Due to the overexploitation and declining population of the tree, research has focused on the leaves as a more sustainable alternative. In vitro and preclinical studies have demonstrated that the leaf extract possesses antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, antioxidant, and cytotoxic properties. Active compounds isolated from the extract include pentacyclic triterpenoids such as betulinic acid, lupeol, and ursolic acid, which contribute to its pharmacological activities.
