CUSA-081 is a novel formulation of reteplase, a recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) developed for the restoration of central venous access device (CVAD) functionality in patients with catheter dysfunction due to thrombosis. Reteplase acts as a plasminogen activator, promoting the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin and thereby facilitating fibrin clot dissolution. The drug is administered intraluminally into dysfunctional CVADs to clear thrombotic occlusions and restore device patency. CUSA-081 has been evaluated in phase 3 clinical trials comparing its efficacy and safety against alteplase and placebo for this indication[2][4][7][9].
