Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CV-MG02 is an investigational, clinical-stage Targeted Active Therapy (TAT) being developed by CuraVac for the treatment of human myasthenia gravis (MG). It is a therapeutic vaccine consisting of complementary peptides designed as a molecular mirror of the main immunogenic region of the acetylcholine receptor (AChR). As an improved, more potent human formulation of the company's original candidate CV-MG01 (Myasterix), CV-MG02 works by retraining the patient's immune system to produce neutralizing anti-idiotypic antibodies. These induced antibodies selectively target and neutralize pathogenic anti-AChR autoantibodies, preventing them from destroying acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction without causing broad immunosuppression. Following successful Phase 1b clinical trials of the platform, CuraVac is preparing to advance CV-MG02 into Phase 2 clinical development.
