Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CV0801 is an investigational, second-generation bivalent mRNA vaccine candidate developed by CureVac in collaboration with GSK for the prevention of COVID-19. It is designed to provide broad protection against multiple variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by incorporating mRNA sequences that encode the spike proteins of two different strains, typically including an Omicron subvariant (such as BA.4/5) and another variant or the ancestral strain. CV0801 utilizes CureVac's proprietary mRNA technology platform, which focuses on optimized non-coding regions to enhance protein expression and immunogenicity. The candidate is part of a clinical program aimed at developing booster vaccines that can adapt to the evolving landscape of COVID-19 variants. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity compared to authorized COVID-19 vaccines.
