Overview

CV9104 is an investigational mRNA-based cancer vaccine developed for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is part of CureVac's RNActive platform and consists of six different mRNAs encoding full-length tumor-associated antigens, including PSA (prostate-specific antigen), PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen), PAP (prostatic acid phosphatase), MUC1 (mucin 1), and others. Upon intradermal administration, the mRNAs are taken up by cells and translated into their respective antigens, which are then presented to the immune system. This process aims to induce a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response against prostate tumor cells expressing these antigens[1][2][6]. The primary indication for CV9104 has been metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer[3][5][7]. Clinical trials have evaluated its safety and efficacy in this setting; however, a phase IIb trial did not meet its primary endpoint[8].
