Overview

CVL-1001 is an experimental, orally available small molecule inhibitor of emopamil binding protein (EBP), developed by Convelo Therapeutics for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting EBP, a key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, which promotes the differentiation and activation of oligodendrocytes—the brain cells responsible for making and repairing myelin. In preclinical models, CVL-1001 has demonstrated accelerated remyelination and repair of myelin sheaths damaged in MS. The drug is currently in preclinical development with plans to advance toward clinical trials[1][2][3][4][5][8].
