Overview

CVM26 is a **live, attenuated mumps virus vaccine candidate** based on the Iowa strain of mumps virus, which has been genetically edited to remove the expression of the V and SH proteins. It is formulated in a 1x sucrose phosphate glutamate (SPG) buffer. CVM26 is under investigation for use as an **intranasal vaccine** aimed at inducing immunity against mumps, especially in adults who have previously received standard childhood mumps vaccination. The mechanism of action is to stimulate an immune response by exposing the recipient to a live, attenuated form of the mumps virus that cannot express the V and SH proteins, which are non-essential for viral replication but may play roles in immune evasion. The primary indication is for the **prevention of mumps**. Development is led by **CyanVac**[1][2][5][8].
