Overview

CVSQIV is an investigational second-generation mRNA-based quadrivalent vaccine designed for the prevention of seasonal influenza. Developed through a collaboration between CureVac and GSK, the vaccine utilizes CureVac's optimized mRNA backbone technology to encode hemagglutinin (HA) proteins from four seasonal influenza strains (two Influenza A and two Influenza B strains). The program was initially co-developed, but in July 2024, GSK acquired full global rights for the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of the candidate. CVSQIV has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy younger and older adults, administered via intramuscular injection.
