Overview

CVX-060 + sunitinib is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including renal cell carcinoma. CVX-060 is a humanized monoclonal antibody fused to two Angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) binding peptides, acting as an Ang2 inhibitor. Sunitinib is an orally administered small-molecule multi-targeted receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks several RTKs involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis, including VEGF receptors (VEGFR1–3), PDGF receptors, KIT (CD117), RET, CSF1R, and FLT3. The combination was studied to assess safety and efficacy in patients with advanced cancers; however, clinical trials did not show improved antitumor efficacy over single-agent sunitinib[2][5][7]. Sunitinib is approved for use in gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), adjuvant RCC following nephrectomy at high risk of recurrence, and progressive pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors[4][6][8].
