CVX-20700

CVX-20700 is a preclinical-stage small molecule iminosugar developed by COVIRIX Medical for the treatment of COVID-19. It acts as an inhibitor of host human alpha-glucosidase, an enzyme essential for the processing of N-linked glycoproteins. By inhibiting this host target, CVX-20700 interferes with the proper folding and maturation of viral glycoproteins, such as the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which is critical for viral entry and replication. Designed for inhalational administration, CVX-20700 aims to deliver the therapeutic directly to the respiratory tract. In vitro studies have shown potent activity (EC50 = 0.1 µg/mL) against the parental SARS-CoV-2 strain as well as the Alpha and Beta variants.
