CX-01 is an anti-ceramide single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody being developed by **Ceramedix Holding, LLC**, using technology exclusively licensed from **Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)**. The drug specifically targets ceramide, a lipid molecule that accumulates on the surface of endothelial cells following injury or stress, such as exposure to ionizing radiation. Upon accumulation, ceramide clusters to form ceramide-rich platforms (CRPs) that initiate pro-apoptotic signaling and lead to microvascular injury. CX-01 binds to and neutralizes ceramide, blocking CRP formation and protecting the microvasculature. Its primary clinical focus is as a medical countermeasure for **gastrointestinal acute radiation syndrome (GI-ARS)**, but it is also being investigated for vascular ocular diseases, including **diabetic retinopathy** and **diabetic macular edema**. The product is designed for subcutaneous administration to facilitate use in mass casualty events, as well as intravenous administration.
