Overview

CX301 is a ceria-based nanoparticle, or nanozyme, being developed by Cenyx Biotech for the treatment of reperfusion-failed stroke, massive inflammatory syndrome (MIS), and acute kidney injury (AKI). The drug acts as a catalytic antioxidant, mimicking the functions of natural enzymes such as superoxide dismutase and catalase to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS). Its mechanism of action involves a continuous redox cycle through bidirectional electron exchange between Ce3+ and Ce4+ oxidation states on the surface of the ceria nanoparticles, allowing for the sustained scavenging of free radicals. Currently in the preclinical stage, CX301 is designed to mitigate tissue damage caused by excessive oxidative stress and inflammation in acute clinical settings.
