Cx611 is an allogeneic expanded adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (eASC) therapy developed by TiGenix (now a subsidiary of Takeda). It consists of multipotent cells isolated from adipose tissue that possess potent immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Cx611 works by inhibiting the proliferation and function of major immune cell populations, including T cells, B cells, and natural killer (NK) cells, while inducing regulatory T cells through both cell-contact mechanisms and paracrine effects. The therapy has been investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of refractory rheumatoid arthritis and severe sepsis secondary to community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP).
