Overview

CXB909 is a novel small-molecule neuroprotective agent that acts by enhancing the effects of nerve growth factor (NGF). Originally developed by Krenitsky Pharmaceuticals and later in-licensed by CeNeRx BioPharma, the compound was designed to treat neurodegenerative and neuropathic conditions. Its primary development focus included chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease. CXB909 completed a Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers. However, development was discontinued following the cessation of operations by CeNeRx BioPharma.
