CXCR4 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to target and knock down the expression of C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). CXCR4 is a G-protein coupled receptor that binds to its ligand, stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1/CXCL12), and plays a critical role in tumor cell migration, proliferation, and metastasis. By utilizing RNA interference (RNAi) pathways, CXCR4 shRNA induces the sequence-specific degradation of CXCR4 mRNA, leading to reduced protein expression. In preclinical research, CXCR4 shRNA is widely used as a laboratory tool to study the role of CXCR4 signaling in various cancers, including breast cancer, melanoma, and esophageal cancer, demonstrating the potential of CXCR4 inhibition to suppress tumor growth and metastatic potential.
