CXCR5 Mab is a preclinical monoclonal antibody developed by Vaccinex, under the Pepinemab Development Venture, that targets the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CXCR5). CXCR5 is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed on B cells and follicular helper T (Tfh) cells. It plays a pivotal role in the migration of these cells toward lymphoid follicles in response to the chemokine CXCL13, a process essential for the formation of germinal centers and the generation of high-affinity antibody responses. By antagonizing CXCR5, this antibody aims to modulate immune cell trafficking and activity. In inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, it is designed to inhibit the recruitment of pathogenic B and Tfh cells to affected tissues. In oncology, targeting the CXCR5/CXCL13 axis is explored for its potential to disrupt the tumor microenvironment or modulate tertiary lymphoid structures. The program is currently in the drug discovery phase and is available for licensing.
