Overview

CXT-CAR NK cells are a form of chimeric antigen receptor-natural killer (CAR-NK) cell therapy, an advanced immunotherapy designed to target cancer cells. These therapies genetically engineer natural killer (NK) cells to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), which enable the immune cells to recognize and kill tumor-specific antigens in a human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-unrestricted manner. CAR-NK cell therapy combines the innate cytotoxicity of NK cells with targeted precision against cancer, offering advantages such as reduced risk of graft-versus-host disease and lower incidence of cytokine release syndrome compared to CAR-T therapies. The approach is being developed primarily for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, with ongoing research focusing on improving activation, proliferation, persistence, and overcoming tumor microenvironment challenges. Cytokine support strategies like IL-2 variants are explored to enhance efficacy while minimizing regulatory T cell activation.
