Overview

CY-1503 (Cylexin) is a synthetic pentasaccharide ethyl glycoside that acts as an analogue of the carbohydrate structure sialyl-Lewis X. It functions as a selectin inhibitor, specifically blocking the interaction between selectins and their ligands on neutrophils. This inhibition prevents neutrophil adhesion, rolling, and migration across the endothelium, thereby reducing inflammation and tissue injury associated with reperfusion injury. CY-1503 has been investigated in preclinical models for its ability to down-regulate free radical concentrations and inhibit neutrophil infiltration in ischemic liver injury and lung transplantation settings. Clinical studies have explored its use in preventing reperfusion lung injury after pulmonary thromboendarterectomy[1][2][4][5][6][7].
