Cy5.5@SAPD-99mTc is a **multifunctional self-assembled peptide nanoparticle** labeled with the near-infrared dye Cy5.5 and the radionuclide technetium-99m (99mTc). It is engineered for **dual-modality tumor imaging (SPECT/NIRF)** and **targeted anti-tumor therapy**. The core comprises a cyclic RGD peptide motif for high affinity targeting of **integrin αvβ3/αvβ1** receptors, which are overexpressed on glioblastoma and certain kidney tumor cells. The nanoparticles accumulate at tumor sites, enabling sensitive imaging via both Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and Near-Infrared Fluorescence (NIRF). Therapeutic potential was demonstrated in animal tumor models; after administration the agent led to significant tumor regression, particularly in glioblastoma. The 99mTc radioisotope enables SPECT imaging and may also contribute cytotoxic effects to tumor tissue due to its gamma emission. The platform targets primarily integrin-positive tumors. This agent is **experimental** and used in research settings for imaging and therapy of cancer, especially brain tumor glioblastoma and kidney cancers[1][3][5][7][9][13].
