Overview

CYAD-04 is an experimental cell therapy candidate developed by Celyad Oncology (formerly Celyad). It belongs to the company's Natural Killer Receptor-based T-cell (NKR-T) platform, which utilizes T-cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) based on the NKG2D receptor. This receptor naturally binds to eight different ligands (MICA, MICB, and ULBP1-6) that are frequently overexpressed on the surface of various solid tumors and hematological malignancies, but have limited expression on healthy tissues. While Celyad's lead candidates in this platform include CYAD-01 and CYAD-101, CYAD-04 represents a specific iteration or early-stage candidate within this NKG2D-targeting portfolio, designed to leverage the innate-like recognition properties of the NKG2D receptor to target a broad range of cancers.
